Vestria has Custom Items that are able to drop from killing hostile mobs which are not from spawners. This will primarilly occur in Dungeons, which members of the Scavenger Guild are able to visit. These items are Diamond and Netherite Tools, Armor, and Weapons, as well as Elytras, Bows, Crossbows, and Fishing Rods with pre-determined Vanilla Enchantments. These available Enchantments can be higher level than the typical Vanilla Minecraft limit, making enchantments such as Efficiency 10 possible.
While there is no way to increase enchantment levels on dropped variants of custom items, there is a Crafting system to increase the power of your items, and enable them to be further modified and upgraded.
There are several elements to Custom Items that will be broken down on this Wiki Page. First are the main types of physical Items that you will encounter:
- These are the version of Custom Items that you will find from killing non-spawner hostile mobs. These items will have pre-determined enchantments, and have a random chance to have additional damaged modifiers included when dropped. More on these later.
- An example Custom Item is shown below:
- These are crafting components which can be used to craft Custom Items. They are the "core" component in crafting the Items themselves, but they have additional functions as well. They can be deconstructed into Dust. More on this next.
- An example Construct Core is shown below:
- This is the "Custom Item Currency," which is used to perform actions within the Custom Item ecosystem. Dust is a necessary component in Crafting of Custom Items, repairing Custom Items through a system called Tinkering, and crafting additional Modifiers for the Custom Items as well.
There are a couple details about Custom Items that are important to know prior to learning about the systems that exist within the custom items plugin. These are:
-
Custom Items are organized into Tiers, which determine the relative power of the Item. These tiers, in order of increasing power, are:
1. Common
2. Rare
3. Legendary
4. Vestrian
-
Construct Cores and Dusts are also tiered items, in that there are unique Cores and Dusts for each tier. The costs for various actions within the custom item ecosystem will usually involve dusts or cores of a relevant tier.
-
Tiers can be found in the Description section on a Custom Item, as seen below:
- Custom Items are further organized into Sets, which determine the types of Enchantments which will appear on the Items. These Sets will include either 4 Weapons, 5 Tools, or 5 Armor pieces, and are generally themed and colored around some piece of Lore, so keep an eye out for cool and interesting references!
- Armor Sets will also provide a pre-determined Set Bonus when you equip each of your 4 armor slots with armor from the same Set. Note that the chestplate slot can be occupied by either the Chestplate or Elytra from the armor set, and you are free to mix and match dropped variants and crafted variants of the Items! These Set Bonuses are not displayed anywhere in-game or on the Vestria Wiki, so it will be up to you to discover these bonuses and determine their effects!
- Sets can be found in the Description section on a Custom Item, as seen below:
Within the Custom Items plugin, there are several systems to know about. They are:
- This is how you will repair your custom items, whether they are dropped variants or more powerful crafted variants. Tinkering will return the durability of your custom items to a percentage of max durability dependent on what your Tinkering Level is. You can check your tinkering level with
/tinker level
or in the /tinker gui
menu. The cost to tinker a custom item is two Dust corresponding to the Tier of the Custom Item.
- To increase your tinkering level, you will increase your McMMO Repair level, and check out
/tinker gui
in-game. Here, you will be able to spend in-game money to increase your level, provided that you first earn the required Repair level. In this GUI, you can also view the new maximum duraiblity that your item will repair to with each repair. This GUI is shown below:
- Each custom item can be Tinkered an unlimited number of times, with no decrease in the overall max durability of the item. Tinkering an item preserves any modifiers that have been placed onto it. The amount of times an item has been tinkered is tracked to keep the legacy of how well an item has served you! This can be seen on a custom item as seen below:
- Custom Item Crafting produces more powerful versions of Items with higher enchantment levels which are able to be modified and augmented to further increase their power beyond the dropped variant. While obtaining a crafted version of a custom item provides no benefits in the way of Set Bonuses or Tinkering, these are the only items which can accept Custom Mending Books, Soulbinding Gems, and Modifiers.
- Crafted Items are distinguished from their dropped variants in two main ways. The display name of these items includes a pickaxe icon, and the details section of the item's lore includes the name of the Blacksmith that crafted the item. These can be seen below:
- In order to craft a Custom Item, you will first have to obtain Fragments for the particular custom item that you are wanting to craft. Fragments are obtained through a process known as Deconstruction, which involves Right-Clicking Twice on an Emerald Block with a dropped variant of a Custom Item in your main hand. This will destroy the item, and return Fragments, which look as shown below:
)
- Each Tier of Custom Item will drop a varying amount of Fragments from each Deconstruction. The breakdown of Fragment drops is shown below:
Tier |
Fragments Obtained from Deconstruction |
Common |
1 Fragment |
Rare |
At least 1 Fragment. 30% Chance for an additional Fragment |
Legendary |
At least 1 Fragment. 60% Chance for an additional Fragment |
Vestrian |
2 Fragments |
- Once you have obtained enough Fragments for a specific Custom Item, you are able to use a Crafting Table to combine them into a Relic. The placement of Fragments in the Crafting Table does not matter. Relics are completed items which can be redeemed in order to obtain permission to craft a Custom Item. They look as shown below:
- Along with different Tiers returning a varying number of Fragments from Deconstruction, each Tier requires a different number of Fragments in order to Craft a Relic. The required number of Fragments is shown below:
Tier |
Fragments Required for Relic |
Common |
3 Fragments |
Rare |
5 Fragments |
Legendary |
7 Fragments |
Vestrian |
9 Fragments |
- In addition to obtaining permission to Craft a Custom Item, redeeming a Relic will also give you a Casting. This is an item which serves no real purpose, but can be displayed in order to show-off what Custom Items you are able to craft. Castings look as shown below:
- Once a Casting has been obtained, and a player has the required Blacksmith Guild rank, an item can be crafted through use of
/items gui craft
. This menu displays the costs, enchantments, and your ability to craft each item. It looks as shown below:
- An additional note about Deconstruction: Deconstruction is not limited to only dropped variants of Custom Items! Additional Items can be Deconstructed to return varying items. The breakdown of what is obtainable via Deconstruction is given below:
Item to Deconstruct |
Result of Deconstructing that Item |
Dropped Variant of a Custom Item |
Fragments, quantity depends on Tier of Item |
Construct Cores |
Assorted mix of Dusts for various Tiers, with a small potential for failure and no return |
Fragments |
1 Dust of the Corresponding Tier |
- Additional note about Deconstruction part 2: Deconstruction is not the only thing you can do with your dropped custom items. If you are a member of the Scavenger Guild, you will be able to Scavenge amounts of items to upgrade them to the next higher tier. Check out the Scavenging Guide Here!
- As mentioned before, one of the benefits of Crafted variants of Custom Items is their ability to accept a custom mending book of the appropriate Tier. These mending books can be added by any player, regardless of what guild they have joined, to a crafted custom item through an anvil. This can be seen below:
- The mending books can be obtained by Enchanter-track Mage Guild members with a high enough rank. Once permission is obtained from earning the necessary Mage rank, Mending Books can be purchased through
/items gui mending
as shown below:
- Upgrading dust is a system within Custom Items where you utilize a Waxed Copper Block to upgrade 4 dust of a lower tier to a higher tier. This upgrade is difficult! It will not succeed every time. Sometimes, you will fail, but retain some of your dusts. Other times, you will completely fail. Rarer dusts are easier to upgrade, and thus have better results.
- To attempt an upgrade, right click on a Waxed Copper Block with your dust in hand, much the same as if you were to try to deconstruct an item on an Emerald block.
- Soul Binding is a somewhat common feature for other servers, so many of you will not be surprised to see it implemented here as well. On Vestria, Soulbinding Gems are a one-time use item that can be applied to a Crafted variant of a Custom Item. They are tier-specific items, and look as shown below:
- When you die in a world that does not have keepInventory enabled, all of your items would typically drop on the floor. Instead, any item that has been soulbound will be returned to your inventory, consuming the soulbinding charge.
- Soulbinding Gems can be obtained by visiting
/warp tinkering
in-game, and purchasing one for 8 dust corresponding to the tier of soulgem needed. Higher tier soulgems do not get more charges, but can simply be applied to higher tier custom items.
- Once obtained, Soulbinding Gems can be applied to Crafted variants of Custom Items by using an anvil, as shown below:
-
Modifiers are the final way to upgrade and improve your crafted custom items. Two types of modifiers exist in the custom items plugin:
1. Custom Enchantments
2. Augments
-
Broken versions of these modifiers can be found on some dropped variants of custom items. These will pop off of dropped items when they are Deconstructed. The item you receive will depend on whether the modifier was a Custom Enchantment or an Augment, but their utility is identical. These items can be seen below:
For Augments:
For Custom Enchantments:
- These broken modifiers can be combined in a Crafting Table to produce a Drained version of the Modifier, as shown below:
For Augments:
For Custom Enchantments:
- If you have the required Mage permissions, Drained modifiers can be empowered into a full-power completed Modifier. These completed Modifier items can then be added to a Crafted Custom Item by anyone, regardless of Guild ranks.
- This redeeming process also provides you the permission to craft more of these modifiers from the relevant Items GUI. For Augments, this will be
/items gui augment
, as shown below:
- For Custom Enchantments, this will be
/items gui enchant
, as shown below:
- Once crafted or purchased, these modifiers can be added to any crafted custom item through an anvil.
